Public registry

Honor those who defend democracy. Notice those who will.

Heroes Rise is a public registry of modern heroes of democracy, and of potential heroes worth recognizing. Every entry is sourced. Every entry can be corrected.

01 The registry

Two kinds of entry, kept apart

Honored heroes are people whose acts in defense of democracy are documented. Potential heroes are people worth watching or recognizing, entered as nominations and never as claims of fact.

Search by name, region or category. Every entry shows its sources.

02 Nominate

Know someone who belongs here?

Tell us who they are, why they matter, and where we can verify it. The registry team reviews every nomination. Nothing is published automatically.

03 Our standards

Sourced, nonpartisan, correctable

The registry is nonpartisan. It recognizes conduct in defense of democratic institutions and rights, not political positions. Read how entries are chosen and how to request a correction.

About and criteria
